See the light in others and treat them as if that’s all you see.
– Dr. Wayne Dyer
This quote by the late Dr. Dyer is the guiding principle of Julia’s counseling practice. Julia maintains a client-centered foundation in her approach to therapy. She is curious about her clients, regards them as experts of their individual experiences, and sees each person as capable and worthy of growth. She is often in awe of the strength and perseverance each person possesses and is passionate about supporting others in recognizing and harnessing their personal power to bring about the changes they would like to see.
Julia meets her clients where they are at when they initiate therapy with warm acceptance. She emphasizes forming partnerships with her clients in which treatment goals are collaboratively identified and a variety of strategies are utilized to achieve these goals in a timely manner. Julia aims to provide a safe space in which her clients can feel more comfortable exploring their vulnerabilities and acting authentically in the service of their values.
Julia sees children ages 10+, adolescents, and adults. She utilizes acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices to meet her client’s specific needs.
Julia has experience working in outpatient treatment settings, in higher levels of care (including intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization settings), and in school settings as both a school-based therapist and a professional school counselor. Julia holds a Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Concordia University Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Concordia University St. Paul. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor In-Training working under the supervision of Julianne Morrison.
