Clare is a licensed professional counselor specializing in care for children and adolescents, along with their families, with a variety of presenting concerns.
Clare is passionate about the importance of humor and authentic expression in the therapy room, and works to foster an environment that feels both safe and fun for clients to explore their thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and relationships with others. She often uses games, art, and other creative interventions to engage children and their families in developing awareness of themselves and the world around them, as well as the confidence to navigate their lives in a way that fosters growth and resilience. Clare’s clinical practice celebrates and affirms clients of all ethnic, racial, gender, and sexual identities. Clare’s theoretical orientation focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), attachment theory, and humanistic psychology through a trauma-informed, multicultural lens. She is also pursuing play therapy certification.
Clare has therapeutic experience in the partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient, and in-home levels of care. These experiences offered Clare opportunities to work with various clientele and diagnoses, and to provide support in many vulnerable moments. Clare has a background in attachment research, crisis intervention and advocacy with families, crisis care for children thirteen and under, and forensic psychiatric care. She is experienced in behavior modification interventions and parent coaching. Clare graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Bachelor of Psychology before obtaining her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Child and Adolescent focus) from Marquette University.
Clare believes that supporting children and adolescents to develop insight into their emotions, coping skills to navigate them, and communication skills to better connect with others is one of the best ways we can equip the next generation to thrive in a changing world.
Clare works out of the Oak Creek and Germantown offices. If you are interested in working with Clare, please call or email for an appointment.
