Hi, I’m Zuleyma Parrilla, an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) and therapist in training. I recently graduated with my Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and I am currently working toward independent clinical licensure.

I work with children ages 5 through early adolescence and their families, and I’m deeply passionate about creating a space where kids feel safe, understood, and free to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. My approach is trauma-informed, grounded in play therapy principles, and strongly influenced by family systems, recognizing that healing happens best when caregivers and families are supported alongside the child.

My clinical interests include helping children navigate big emotions, trauma, life transitions, anxiety, and behavioral challenges, while also empowering caregivers with tools, understanding, and confidence. I strive to meet each child and family where they are, honoring their unique strengths, culture, and lived experiences.

I practice under the direct supervision of Julianne Morrison, MS, LPC, NCC, and I am committed to ongoing learning and growth as a clinician. My goal is to continue developing as a well-rounded therapist, with future aspirations of becoming a trauma-focused clinician and registered play therapist, always centering compassion, curiosity, and connection in my work.
One of my favorite reminders, and something I try to bring into the therapy space, is this quote:
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
