Sometimes the things we experience and survive through are just too difficult to express with words alone. Sometimes talking is simply not enough to find healing. Art is a universal language that can help safely process emotions and stories when words alone fall short.

Angela is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist with over a decade of experience serving the community in private practice. As an artist herself, Angela strongly believes that art making is naturally therapeutic and everyone has innate creativity within them. With a willingness to explore, art therapy can enhance the therapeutic experience and help gain insight and awareness, share stories, process and resolve conflicts, increase confidence, develop coping skills, and help foster balance, growth, and healing.

Like works of art, we are all unique individuals with diverse life experiences and circumstances. Angela believes treatment should be specifically catered to each person and their needs. She works collaboratively alongside clients to help develop and accomplish their personal goals, at whatever pace feels comfortable for them. Clients can expect a consistently safe and compassionate environment to explore and process feelings in the present moment, however they need, whether that includes art making or not.

Angela enjoys working with people of all ages and from all walks of life, but has expertise and a tender appreciation for working with adolescents and young adults, or those in a transitional stage of life. She is highly experienced in working with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, as well as survivors of trauma. In addition to Art Therapy, Angela also has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and she operates from a sex-positive and gender affirming approach to treatment. She is an expert on working with LGBTQ+ individuals and she provides collaborative care for those seeking hormone therapy and other gender affirming care. Angela invites you to be exactly who you are, wherever you are at in your journey; she’s honored to walk along with you.

Angela works out of the Madison and Mayville offices and has availability for appointments Mondays - Thursdays.
