Hey there, I’m Melissa.
I’m glad you are here- finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. I want to share a little about how I work to see if I may be the right fit for you. I specialize in couples, working with kids and teens, and perinatal mental health. I use the Gottman method to support couples navigating communication breakdown,
conflict, and help strengthen the relationship’s foundation. I use acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and a strengths-based approach to help navigate depression, anxiety, and stress. Life can throw some hard curveballs, and I want you to get the support you need so you can live a life that matches your values.
I believe incorporating creative arts can lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves. That being said, I won’t make anyone use music unless they want to. In fact, I want to provide skills that really resonate with what you need. I like to keep things safe, authentic, and down to earth. I want you to feel comfortable. ( I may also add a little humor from time to time.)
A little about my background- I completed my undergraduate degree (music therapy) and graduate degree (counseling) from Alverno. I’m a licensed professional counselor-in training and a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC). I’ve been a MT- BC since 2015, with most of my experience in the medical arena, specializing in neonatal music therapy.
During my downtime you can find me spending time with my family and dogs,
sewing/quilting, or playing an instrument.
Melissa works out of the Cedarburg office and is under the direct supervision of Julianne Morrison MS LPC NCC. Please call or email to schedule an appointment with Melissa.
