Hello, my name is Tiernee and I am an art therapist and professional counselor in training. I have a Bachelors of Art from UW-Green Bay, and a dual Masters of Art Therapy and Professional Counseling from Mount Mary University. I offer an integrative art, counseling, and therapy approach helping children, adolescents, adults, and families heal past and present hurts, becoming more of themselves in the process.
Using an ”integrative approach” means I combine different counseling and therapeutic approaches including trauma-informed art, play, CBT, DBT, client-centered, mindfulness and relational therapies, as well as others as needed to meet the specific needs and issues that you want to explore. I also work holistically, often inviting clients to explore their lifestyles including diet, sleep hygiene, self-care, and physical activity as part of the healing process.
An appointment offers you a combination of talk therapy and if you wish, gentle work with mindfulness and art therapy. Appointments with children often center around play and art therapy. Seeking help from a counselor or therapist can be a courageous step for many, particularly if you are dealing with difficult or overwhelming feelings and behaviors. Therefore you (and/or your child) can expect absolute respect and sensitivity towards whatever might be affecting you, and complete confidentiality for whatever you want to talk about.
An appointment provides a space in which you can be totally honest, holding nothing back out of politeness or loyalty. A space where you can be open, both to your experience, and in expressing yourself verbally and/or artistically.
After an initial consultation, regularly scheduled weekly appointments will continue. Regularity and continuity provide a feeling of security and structure to the therapeutic process, in which your own experience can naturally unfold. I am here to assist you (and/or your child) in this process, by offering the time and space needed, and certain skills that may enable you to explore your experience more effectively, or more deeply than you possibly could on your own.
I look forward to hearing from you and discussing how I might be able to assist you with what it is you are seeking for yourself and/or your child.
