“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." -Carl Rogers
Do you ever wish you could enter into a world where you could be validated, heard and understood without any judgments put on you? If that is something that you are interested in, you are in luck, because that is exactly what I can offer when you step into my office!
But first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Caitlin Yogerst. My education background includes a B.S. in Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling both from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I am also a Substance Abuse Counselor in Training. My 10 years of experience has allowed me to work in a variety of settings and communities with all age groups (early childhood to geriatric). My journey as a therapist has now brought me to the private practice setting.
I like to view the counseling process as a journey where you are the expert into your own life. This journey is one that we walk side by side as I help you navigate into mental wellness. As someone who has benefited from counseling on a personal level I can empathize with the sometimes reluctance to open up to a complete stranger. One piece in my practice that I like to emphasize is that I do not have any expectations on what the session “should” look like. I take my cues from you and your comfort level and we work together to build rapport and trust.
Drawing on a variety of techniques from many different therapeutic platforms, our session could include CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, play therapy, creative art, and mindfulness, all used with a trauma-informed approach. In addition, I am always open to practicing techniques you wish to explore.
